Anti-Racism in Community-Led Welcome

This training will be run by Jon Cornejo, a campaigner, organiser, and anti-racism specialist. It will cover what is racism and anti-racism, and how they operate broadly within the refugee sector and community sponsorship. Jon will talk through the language around race and how it’s ever-changing, the complications embedded in racism, how ‘whiteness’ is viewed, and what’s involved in oppression. The training will involve break-out rooms, so there will opportunity to get involved and have discussions. The main point of this training session is to help you approach a topic that is complicated, and which many have told us they don’t know how to tackle, especially when working with families that may come up against some of these issues.
