Become a Sponsor

You’ll need to provide a bedroom and a place to live for 6 months.
They will need to have full access to come and go as they please, privacy and access to facilities such as kitchen space and bathrooms.
You’ll welcome refugees into your homes and families.
You’ll support refugees in making the UK their home, we recommend ensuring there is support locally to help make this happen.

How does our matching process work?

The UK Homes for Ukraine Scheme allows Ukrainian nationals and their family members to come to the UK if they have been invited by a sponsor. A sponsor – sometimes referred to as a host – is a person, a family or a community that can offer you a place to stay and is willing to confirm that in your visa application.
The scheme allows Ukrainians to stay in the UK for up to three years.

Refugees and sponsors must register their interest in the scheme via our registration forms.
For refugees, we collect information about the composition of their group and any special needs or preferences they might have in terms of accommodation (e.g. location preferences, details about pets, access needs).

For hosts, we ask who lives in their household and what they might be able to offer in terms of accommodation, including location and accessibility. We also ask other questions, such as whether they are willing to accommodate pets. Before being considered for matching, sponsors will also be asked to complete two online training sessions, a webinar and an e-learning course.

Based on the information provided by refugees and sponsors, we aim to identify at least two potential sponsors for refugees

Once they have registered, refugees and sponsors will be given logins. By logging into their account, they will be able to view and update their profile and be notified of any potential matches.

Our data-driven approach identifies potential hosts depending on the needs of the refugee group. We also take into account the availability and household composition of the sponsors, as well as stated preferences of both hosts and refugees.

We ensure that we take into account any key criteria such as hosting children, pets, smoking indoors. Please note that we are working with thousands of applications of each side. We will aim to find the best possible match but may not be able to align perfectly with your preferences.

Reset’s involvement ends after you and the refugee agree that you wish to proceed with the match.

Our principles for matching

Structured and Meaningful
Reset Communities and Refugees has developed its matching scheme to support Ukrainian refugees who have no connections in the UK to meet potential sponsors in a structured and meaningful way.

Agency to Refugees
Through our scheme refugees have agency. This means that they will be able to select from at least two sponsors who have been pre-trained and understand what it means to open their homes to refugees. Potential sponsors have to attend a webinar and complete an e-learning course before they are considered for matching.

Training and Support
Through training, support and a focus on community we hope we can offer a safer approach to matching for people fleeing war and persecution.
